BBQ Satay Chicken Legs

  • 4 chicken legs or thighs and drumsticks


  • 1 stalk lemongrass roughly chopped
  • 1 onion roughly chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1 tbsp ground tumeric
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 50 g coconut milk


  • 350 g coconut milk
  • 4 tbsp Jimmy's Sate sauce
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 0.5 tbsp caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter


  • Add all the marinade ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Rub all over the chicken pieces and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  • Add all the sauce ingredients to a pan and heat over a medium heat over a medium heat until it has thickend up. This should take about 20 minutes.
  • Once the chicken has marinated sufficently cook on the BBQ, this should take about 40 minutes.
  • Plate up, poor over the satay sauce and serve.
